Indian Energy commissions 16.5 Mw wind farm in Tamil Nadu
Indian Energy has commissioned a 16.5 Mw wind farm at Theni district of Tamil Nadu. The project, which consists of 11 turbines with a power generating capacity of 1.5 Mw each, has been constructed by Regen Powertech under a contract signed with Indian Energy in December 2009.
The first three turbines of the project were commissioned in early February while the other eight were completed in the last week of June. Indian Energy has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) for the sale of power generated from the first three turbines and is expected to ink a similar PPA with TNEB for the remaining turbines shortly.
