MoEF to prepare common action plan on climate change

The ministry of environment and forests (MoEF) is planning to hold the meeting of all the states and try to reach a consensus on common framework for the state action plans.  “We need to know existing baselines in the states, identify the areas to focous on vis-à-vis vulnerability, said a senior official from MoEF.

Officials pointed out, some states like Kerala, Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh have taken lead and they are drafting their local climate action plan.  However Orissa is the only state, which has so far announced its climate change plans.

We have also told them to take help of multilateral agencies like World Bank and UK’s international development for preparing the action plan.
