State-run NTPC posted a 16 per cent drop in net profit at Rs 1,841.9 crore for the June quarter, compared to Rs 2,193.6 crore in the same quarter last year.
The fuel cost rose over 12.3 per cent to Rs 8,702.3 crore, while the overall expenditure increased by 12.7 percent to Rs 10,640.4 crore.
Net sales were up 7.85 per cent at Rs 12,944.5 crore, against Rs 12,002.7 crore in the year-ago quarter, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
