Oil India cuts down production
State-run upstream company Oil India Ltd (OIL) had to cut down it’s production from 9,800 tonnes per day to 5,000 tonnes per day as Numaligarh Refinary Ltd (NRL) is shut down for upgrade.
Speaking with media persons company’s CMD N M Borah said, “NRL a joint venture between OIL, BPCL and Assam government has taken a 60 day shut down for upgrading its refinery to produce Bharat-III/IV compliant diesel. The shutdown however, got extended and it is now expected that the refinery would be back on full stream later this month. I must say that whatever production we lost because of the refinery shutdown, we will be able to make it up during the course of the year.”
However Boarh expressed confidance and said, we will meet our targets. OIL produced 3.32 per cent more crude at 3.611 million tonnes (mt) in 2009-10 than the target and has set a target of producing 3.7 mt to 3.8 mt crude in the current fiscal, he pointed out.
