PGCIL net up by 21 per cent in FY10

The central sector transmission utility Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL),  reported a net profit of 2041 crore in FY10,  a rise of 21 per cent compared to FY 09.

The company’s turnover also increased  from 6,139 crore in FY 09 to Rs. 7504, up by 22 per cent. In previous financial year company’s earning per share (EPS) increased to Rs.4.85 as against  Rs.4.08 in FY09.
PGCIL operated around 75,289 ckt. kms. of transmission lines along with 124 Sub-stations as on March 31, 2010. Average availability of transmission systems during the year 2009-10 was maintained at 99.77 per cent with the use of state-of-the-art preventive maintenance techniques. PGCIL continues to wheel about per cent of total power generated in the country through its transmission network.
