Serum Institute orders wind turbines Suzlon

The Serum Institute of India (SEI), the world’s largest producer of measles and DTP vaccines, has ordered 18 of Suzlon Energy’s S88 model wind turbines. Each turbine has a capacity of 2.1 Mw.  Pune based Suzlon will build, operate and maintain the 37.8 Mw project at Jaibhim in Dhule-Nandurbar windfarm in Maharashtra. SEI is wholly owned by the Poonwalla Group, which has previously placed a wind turbine order with Suzlon and has committed to utilize wind power across all the company’s operations. The new project is set for commissioning in March 2011.
